![]() Online netwroking for nolit started at a time when the internet was not affordable and easily accessible yet. Without internet, nolit got into the world of Bulletin Board Systems or BBS. He learned this from a friend, fellow musician who was doing this to exchange midi files and other music related stuff. He set up the KIMSNET BBS, which is a modem to modem netwoking, chatting and message exchange. Nolit would be generous to share files that would interest everybody on the network. He was also active in the BBS community gatherings. you can check this archive list of BBS in the Philippines here. You can check out the blog to read more stories on KIMSNET BBS. When the internet started to become popular, Nolit was one of the first to establish a network portal, a jump from BBS to the internet. This was first called the KIMSNET Website which later on became nolits.com, a network portal. Nolits.com has gathered a handful of following with its content focused on gaming, internet usage and freeware file sharing. The network portal was hard coded by nolit from scratch however later on he adopted to use CMS scripts to make things easier. The community of nolits.com became more into online games especially OZWORLD which was the first MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) in the country run by level-up games before Ragnarok became hit. OzWorld was less violent game and more of a social game since it was used mostly for chatting and community events. Nolit was hooked in this game and was active in all its events and gatherings until it shut down. Nolits.com would later transform from a network portal into a personal site of Nolit Abanilla.
Nolithosting started with a colocated server in one datacenter in the Dallas, USA. This was active for over 3 years until a big earthquake shook the state which damaged the servers in the datacenter. Nolithosting decided to purchase a reseller hosting account instead of buring a new server. Popular sites run by nolits.com which grew during these times were the Musicph.net which was a forum running on phpbb all about music. There was also a blog called cdcollection.org. A specialized group site called Bahista.com developed a big following of filipino bass guitar players. During the times when pinoyunderground.org had some troubles, nolithosting has opened it doors to assist its hosting needs. Pinoy Friendster was a daring move of nolithosting to create a social media site. It has gathered a few hundreds of sign up with some interactivity before shutting down as facebook started to become more popular. From all the sites run by nolits.com it was radiopilipinas which survived. Radiopilipinas was later acquired by Indiepinoy Co. and is still running 24/7. Nolithosting survived several decades of service with loyal clients such as an online government service, an internationally famnous R&B-hiphop artist, a handful of corporate websites, organizational sites, and celebrity/entertainment website. In 2019, nolithosting decided to shut down. Indiepinoy stepped in to continue in managing the hosting service with only a few sites remaining under its belt. You can check out these sites which remain within the sleves of nolithosting now under indiepinoy:
